19 Jul Going from Behind the Screen to Center Stage
Article by Eder Ramirez
Hello everyone! My name is Eder Ramirez, and I’m managing this blog as this Summer’s PR Intern. At FanFlex, our job is to give every musician around the nation a place to perform in front of their audience.
It’s these musicians that are passionate when it comes to their musical careers and talents, many with dreams of becoming a rockstar. But it’s important to remember that while many artists are undergoing their paths to success, the biggest voices start from the smallest stages.
Here are some things I’ve noticed among many indie artists online, and what I think are some essential tips to remember for your path to success. Build your brand and images to your liking, then take them into real life.
Aspiring online artists have built an image for themselves. Whether it’s an icon, symbol, or a specific style, you need to make sure that you build a recognizable image or motif that anyone can see and immediately recognize is you. Who else is better at being you than you, you know?
Start with your online career. Publish your music on YouTube and other streaming services, but a social media account can work wonders. Give fans the voice behind the voice, and express yourself as the authentic image you want them to see you in.
Many indie consumers typically turn to the genre, believing mainstream music is too commercialized and bland, which is where indie artists significantly differ. When making content, make sure that passion fuels your ideas. Make whatever kind of content you’d like that best suits you. You could be a copycat, but the bold and brave often get the most glory. You should do what you want because it’s what you want.
However, no matter how big your online presence is, it isn’t as effective as your on-stage presence. Going from online to IRL is daunting, as you’ll have to find a venue willing to give you a shot. Starting small is always a great way to get yourself out in the real world, beginning with local venues before expanding to statewide, or even nationwide, shows. This is where Fanflex comes in, as we can help you find your perfect start on many stages nationwide.
Finally, remember that your path to success is more important than fame. Many artists enjoy the growth that comes with time and experience, as music careers are often more about the journey than the destination. They learn, and they grow while they have fun doing it. Remember that, and you’ll always be satisfied with your progress.
Just remember that your friends at FanFlex are here to help you when it comes to your live performances! Let us help you find a stage to rock on so you can rock your audiences’ socks off!
