INTERVIEW WITH ELLA BEYER

18 Oct INTERVIEW WITH ELLA BEYER

Interviewed by Anna Melendres

Ella Beyer is a 19-year-old triple threat from Glendale, California who creates indie-pop style music. As a singer, guitarist, and pianist, Ella best describes her music as a combination of Taylor Swift, Carole King, and Phoebe Bridgers.

She’s been songwriting and taking her career professionally since her freshman year of high school. She attended an arts high school known as California School of the Arts for musical theater. During the day she performed in musicals, and at night she played shows with her band.

Ella’s inspiration comes from iconic artists that show true passion in their music.

“I’m inspired by the Beatles and Phoebe Bridgers. Their songs are so metaphorical where the audience has to interpret what the lyrics mean. I love that style of writing where the audience has to figure out the meaning.” – Ella Beyer, for FanFlex.

Coming from a family of musicians, Ella’s mother is a singer-songwriter, and her father is a touring drummer. In fact, Ella’s father plays drums in her band.

“I grew up going to their shows as a little girl. I remember my mom pulling me out of school to leave for a tour for two weeks. One time, the band my dad was playing for opened for the Beach Boys!” – Ella Beyer, for FanFlex.

Ella’s parents had a love for music and so did she.

“I loved having that exposure at such a young age. My parents made me really appreciate the effect of music and how music has such an impact on people. It made me want to do what I do.” – Ella Beyer, for FanFlex.

Even though it can be scary to be vulnerable and share your secrets on stage, there is that element of performing that is fun. What excites her the most is being able to share her diary because she wants to share a piece of her with her audience.

Through word-of-mouth, Ella heard about FanFlex through a friend who was an intern at the time. She reached out to Ella asking her to play a show.

“The first time I played at Hotel Ziggy, it knocked my socks off. That’s been my favorite experience with FanFlex. I felt overwhelmed with so much support because so many of my friends were able to come.” – Ella Beyer, for FanFlex.

Ella shares her appreciation for Fan Flex and how she has grown so much already.

“What I love about Fan Flex is how you make 100 percent of the profits and how it’s all about the artist. I like the assertiveness of the company. They really want to help you reach your goals” – Ella Beyer, for FanFlex.

Ella believes there is no such thing as balance when it comes to school and her career. Ella actively writes songs for her classes at her music school. Every day, she feels like she is bettering herself as a musician.

“I create the music that I create because I am not afraid to show all the sides of myself. It’s important in music to show people and your audience that you’re not afraid to be vulnerable. People are so concerned with being perfect, but we’re all flawed human beings and we just have to embrace it.” – Ella Beyer, for FanFlex.
